Palestine will be Free

I have been talking about Palestine to Americans for 16 years. The western coverage around “Operation Cast Lead” is what galvanized me to start talking mostly to people who knew me and then expanding beyond that. Today we see some of the largest demonstrations for Palestinian dignity and freedom around the world, and it gives me hope.

I’m sharing a teach-in I recorded in 2021, the “current events” part is still, sadly, relevant–Israel continues its forcible expulsion of areas in the West Bank like Masafer Yattah and Sheikh Jarrah (and most recently the Armenian Quarter in Jerusalem)–while it bombards Gaza in another of its “mowing the lawn” genocidal operations. Mostly, its the history and the patterns of violence that I want people to take away from this teach-in. I stand firm in saying the only solution is one state with equal rights for all, including Jewish people who choose to live in a true peace without apartheid, and the right of return for refugees. Palestine will be free from the river to the sea.
